• The things I do for cake

August has been a busy month for me, there have been lots of different cakes to try all around the country. As part of it I have attended two weddings, travelled hundreds of miles, and tried many a different cake shop in order to find out where to get the best cakes.

The Cake Cafe in Bath so far ranks as the best cheesecake I have ever tasted …bar what is to come further down this post.

    East Coast First Class

While travelling to York I thought I would try out the free cake that First Great Western and East Coast give out in First Class. As usual FGW was so bad I dare to mention it, East Coasts was quite a nice honey cake.

    Li Wedding Cake

The first wedding I attended was for Mr Li, where I was Best Man (cue awesome speech) being Mr Li there was lots of tasty cake, starting with the wedding cake.

Cake and Croquet, I could get use to this.

    Best Cheesecake ever

After playing a spot of croquet, the afternoon that followed could only be described as eating the best chocolate gateau and caramel cheesecake that I have ever tasted …ever

Shortly after Li’s wedding I had to rush down to Cambridge and join Charlie and Fran at their wedding, where their cake was made by friends who worked at Yorks Chocolate Story, it was a lovely cake and a lovely wedding.

After the wedding a few of us retreated back to the house we rented for the night, and tried out the homemade Charlie and Fran Jam (it rhymes!) which has since been is several tasty cakes.

Since returning home I have been saddened to find that the Meehans Cakery cafe is closing down in Chippenham, however in part due to their increased sale of bespoke cakes. Best tea and cake in the town.

Since then I have wandered from place to place (mainly Bath) looking for the next best cake
