• The Loom Room.

When I try to explain to people that my sisters career is a weaver, most people have responded ‘…er …weave baskets?’ er, no. She does textile designing, and uses a Loom to produce her patterns. Firstly you need a rather expensive wooden paperweight called a Loom which more closely resembles a torture device and sounds like one too:

You then spend a few days threading it up using very overpriced yarns (about £5-10 each):

Once done, she makes her design using some ancient Mac software running on a Apple Performa 630! and away the machine goes with her working her magic.

And eventually she ends up with a nice scarf piece of fabric.

All in a days work (or few weeks) for Stephanie!
